A Lucknow legend, now in Dubai

It began in the Chowk area of Lucknow in 1905 with Haji Murad Ali, a craftsman who had lost one hand and came to be known as “Tunday”. When a Nawab who had lost his teeth went looking for kababs soft enough to eat, he held a contest with royal patronage as the prize. Haji Murad Ali won it.

The recipe, said to blend 160 spices, is still a closely guarded family secret. It passed from Haji Murad Ali to his son Haji Rais Ahmad and on to Mohammad Usman, who leads the business today. In Dubai, you will find us in Al Karama and Al Barsha.
